Lyrics
Verse 1:
All creatures of our God and King
Lift up your voice and with us sing
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Thou, burning sun with golden beam
Thou, silver moon with softer gleam
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Verse 2:
Let all things their Creator bless
And worship Him in humbleness
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son
And praise the Spirit, Three-in-One
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Verse 3:
All the redeemed washed by His blood
Come and rejoice in His great love
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Christ has defeated every sin
Cast all your burdens now on Him
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Verse 4:
He shall return in pow’r to reign
Heaven and earth will join to say
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Then who shall fall on bended knee?
All creatures of our God and King
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Tag:
All praise to our Saviour Lord
All praise Him in one accord
Alleluia, Alleluia
All praise to the Risen One
All praise Him who is to come
Alleluia, Alleluia
Behind the song
Since I started releasing music back in 2021, I always wanted to release a cover version of a well known worship song. Back in the autumn of 2023, I randomly had going around in my head the well known hymn ‘All creatures of our God and King’. It is such a classic hymn and one I can even remember singing in my school assemblies at junior school!
Around that same time, my wife Karen had become interested in the lifestyle of the Franciscan’s. Imagine my surprise when I began to look more into the song that had been going around in my head and found out the orginal lyrics were penned by no other than St Francis of Assisi, who established the order of the Fransican’s. I felt straight away that this was the song I was to cover, plus having searched online there seemed to be no recent modern versions of the this awesome hymn.
While working on the song, I came upon an ending tag ‘All Praise’, which I think is a fitting culmination for the theme of a song that gives up praise to our Saviour and King who has done so much for us!!
