Behind the song
I wrote Solid Ground after hearing Psalm 40:2 during a church sermon:
“He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” Psalm 40:2 NIV
This verse made me reflect on the steadfast faith and hope we discover when we stand firm on God’s promises through life’s trials. The words ‘Solid Ground’ came to me as I was thinking about God being the rock beneath our feet.
The song is a message of encouragement for all believers in the midst of uncertainty and to discover the security that comes from trusting God – the solid rock under our feet.
